23/09/2009 - Monday & Wednesday Regular Training : Details

Monday : 6 to 7pm : Trawden Rec. General run - route decided on the night.

This is a controlled training session designed to develop individuals dependent on their personal level.

Runners of any standard can take part and benefit from this popular group session.

These sessions are overseen by qualified running trainers.

NOTE : Monday sessions start from the Trawden Rec. during the summer

Wednesday : 6 to 7pm : Seedhill running track (M65 - J13) - £2 for non-activo members.

NOTE : Last Wednesday in every month:

NO TRACK SESSION.

Meet at the farm track layby on the road out of Barley up the side of Pendle Hill, for an hour on the fells/hill work.


This will commence on June 30th 2010.

02/05/2010 - Grand Prix Dates 2010 - .

The dates for this years Grand Prix have now been fixed as follows:

12 noon Sunday 2nd May Hameldon Hill - 6 mile 1100ft fell race
7pm Friday 7th May Pinhaw - 5 mile 700ft multi terrain
7pm Tuesday 11th May Wholan Nook (Clowbridge) - 8k track and road
7pm Friday 28th May Burnley Lions - 10k road
2pm Saturday 5th June Kelbrook 3.4 mile 700ft fell race
7pm Friday 11th June Barley Fell - 4 mile 1100ft fell race
7pm Wed 16th June Burnley Boys Club - 10k - 3 lap road and canal
11am Sunday 20th June Hendon Brook - 13.5 miles road, hilly and very tough
11am Sunday 27th June Trawden 7 - 7 miles road and trail
11.30am Sunday 1st August Cliviger 6 - 6 mile road race
10.30am Sunday 8th August Boulsworth / Trawden Show - 7.5 mile bridleway / fell race
11am Sunday 15th August Worsthorne 7 - 7 mile 900ft multi terrain

08/08/2010 - Boulsworth Fell Race (7.5miles : 1250ft) - 10:30a.m. Sunday 08/08/2010

The race is part of the Trawden Agricultural Show (held annually on Trawden Rec) and is open to everyone.
Registration on the day. Entry costs £5 / £7 (club / non-club runners).

It is a large event and traffic can be very busy to and from the show,
so please allow plenty of time to park and register and follow traffic diversions on the day.

IMPORTANT : All runners and their families to park in Car Park D.

This field is where the race registration tent is and the start.

The finish is in the main showground arena on the rec.

(Unless you miss the cut-off time of 1hr50 to finish,
in which case you will be directed to alternative finish and times will be altered accordingly).

Entry to the fell race is also entry to the showground.
Spectators to pay the normal show entry of £5 on the gates.

Presentation to be held back in the registration area asap after the last runner home.

Please see map (via the Gallery Page) for route -
however please note we have had permission from landowners to use private land on the day,
so please do not attempt to recce the route between Great Hill and the bridleway junction near Beaver Farm.

The route will be marshalled and flagged in places,
please stick to the permissive footpath on Boulsworth Hill as it is an area of SSSI.

The terrain is a mixture of track (some tarmac) and fell (often boggy) - Enjoy!

12/09/2010 - Yorkshireman Off-Road Half/Full Marathon

Not sure how many of you have entered this already, but thought I would post this up. It's a tough event on both the half and the full marathon, however it's well organised and you do get a lovely selection of cakes at the end, that's if you can stomach them!!!!

Date for your diaries : October 1st - 2nd 2010


Depending on numbers we think 2 nights accommodation and food for the weekend will be £25 per person (£15 children).

We will probably have early run on Saturday (optional) followed by a day out in the hills walking (or shopping in Keswick if that floats your boat!).

Lots to eat and drink all weekend and hopefully make it a weekend to remember.

On the Sunday there is the Ian Hodgson Relay in the Lakes - anyone interested in us entering a team for the first time? We need 8 runners.

THIS IS OPEN TO EVERYONE - THE MORE THE MERRIER !

30/10/2010 - Snowdonia Marathon 2010

Paul Brown and Tony Hall will be flying the flag for Trawden later in the year in this demanding event.
Apparently it was voted the best marathon in the UK in a 2007 Runners World magazine poll.

31/12/2010 - Trawden AC Training Tops

Two styles of Trawden AC training top are now available!

Long Sleeve : These are White with TRAWDEN AC in black on reverse.

Short Sleeve : These are Red again with the lettering on the back.
They're made from tough, breathable material.
If you're interested in buying one of these tops have a word with Dave Croll.

31/12/2010 - England Athletics Membership Number

All members of England Athletics are given membership numbers which occasionally you're asked to provide when entering events.

Everyone who has paid this years membership fee will have a number allocated.

England Athletics should send them out but I think that there are still people who haven't been notified of their number.

If you don't know yours and want it, drop me an e-mail and I will tell you what it is.
