Bronte Way

All runnners are given a free bottle of Timothy Taylors Landlord (a fine beer indeed) on completion of this one-way eight mile off-road race betwixt Wycoller and Haworth - and as a consequence it attracted a number of Trawden runners who're quite partial to a good half o' bitter now and again...well that's why I was there anyway!

But I only had to travel a couple of miles to get there - Paul Brown had to travel back from the Snowdonia Marathon the previous day in order to make it - but make it he did - much to the surprise of everyone when they first saw him. There were a few double-takes and muttered "No, surely it isn't!"' Good effort Paul!

A very pleasant autumnal morning (albeit slightly foggy in parts) made for perfect racing conditions, but something wasn't quite right for Chris Campbell on the day as he had to stop to chunder a few times along the way. Good effort for making it to the finish Chris - you looked seriously pale up that last hill, but I guess you could see the bottles of beer waiting at the finish at that point!

Steve Gregory was making his return to competitive action for Trawden after a long spell struggling with Achilles problems and cruised to a 22nd place finish in a superb time of just over 62mins. Molly came home 2nd in the ladies race, knocking 5 minutes off her previous best time in the race to finish in an excellent 66:29.

Both Ali and Andy had full-on sprints up the cobbled hill to the finish line which was probably more fun for the massed crowds than the individuals at the time and Matt managed to get round without doing himself a serious injury this year. Well done all!

Thanks also to everyone who turned out in support on the day also - it's much appreciated. Oh and Chris made a full and swift recovery after the race once we helped him into the pub at the finish line :^)
