There was an absolutely superb turnout for the Trawden 7 - our "home" race - with no less than 26 club runners in a field of 110. Molly won the ladies race yet again and is now storming to virtually assured victory in the GP series! Paul Brown was first Trawden runner home finishing a worthy 8th overall.

New Trawden AC members Jill, Jean and Brian Baistow ran in the Roberttown 7, with Jean picking up the 1st Lady V60 prize - nice one !

06/06/2010 - Rossendale Triathlon

Molly's fantastic run of form in competition continued with an emphatic win in the 2010 Rossendale Triathlon, coming home around two and a half minutes ahead of her closet rival despite having to deal with the chain coming off her bike during the ride.
Steve Gregory managed a superb top ten finish despite carrying an achillies injury into the event that has seriously hampered his running for a while now. Great effort.

31/05/2010 - Austwick Amble

After a great time in 2009, Trawden AC returned to Austwick for another Bank Holiday weekend of camping, running, BBQs and the odd drink or three !
On the day of the race the cold wind of the previous couple of days disappeared leaving conditions perfect and once again Molly was on top form, winning in a time of 1 hour for the 8 mile event.
Special mentions also to Sandra Campbell and Fionnuala Swann, both taking part in their first fell race and both finishing the race in great style !
Oh and I must just mention Paul Brown who kindly gave the rest of us a chance by letting us all have a head start...cheers Paul.

As a warm-up for the Austwick Amble on the sunny Bank Holiday Monday, Neil Alderman and Chris Campbell took part in this rainy Saturday afternoon race, which despite the weather, they both said was a really good race to do.

28/05/2010 - Burnley & Pendle Grand Prix 2010 - Races 3 & 4 - 11/05 & 28/05

11/05 : Wholan Nook
28/05 : Burnley Lions 10K

Wholan Nook, Race 3 in the series, was new for 2010 and 23 Trawden runners turned out to check it out.
Once again Molly Ralphson took first place in the ladies race making it a 3 out of 3 in the series - a superb achievement.
Heath McDonald-Noble in his first Grand Prix race of the season hit the gas from the off and came home in 9th position !
After a couple of weeks break it was race 4, in Colne, on a perfect Friday evening - Trawden turnout was a record breaking 26 runners - amongst whom were Kerrie Bretherton, Brian Baistow and Steve Martin competing in Trawden colours for the first time and also Fionnuala Swann, Andy Hall, Peter Stobbs and Derrick Marsh taking part in their first Grand Prix race of the series - hopefully the first of many for all !

08/05/2010 - The 48th Annual Fellsman

After a couple of warm-up sprint events recently (see below), Trawden's Mr Ultra-Endurance Peter Stobbs took part in and completed this years Fellsman.
This is a 60mile event.......yes, SIXTY......that originally was just a walking event. But some people are happier running !!

02/05/2010 - Burnley & Pendle Grand Prix 2010 - Races 1 & 2 - 02/05 & 07/05

02/05 : Hambledon Hill
07/05 : Pinhaw Fell

Well, we're two races into the series already and up to now there's been an absolutely tremendous team Trawden turnout at both races !
There were 16 of us at Hambledon and 20 for the Pinhaw race and it's worth just mentioning a few people individually I think :-
Molly Ralphson has won the Ladies race at both Hambledon and Pinhaw, posting personal best times at each in the process and
overcoming a few difficulties along the way i.e. tough opposition in a neck and neck race at Hambledon and coping with a bad cold at Pinhaw.
There has been a number of Trawden runners competing for the first time in these races as well - nothing like picking a nice easy race to start with
is there - so well done to :-
Andy Haworth - first fell race at Hambledon,
Alison Hoyle - first fell race at Pinhaw and coming in 5th overall
Callum Whitfield - first fell race at Pinhaw

02/05/2010 - Keswick Half Marathon

Chris and Sandra Campbell both completed this years Keswick Half Marathon in the colours of Trawden AC, putting in fine performances on the day.
According to their website - The route is a circuit of Derwentwater, with a loop into the Newlands valley, probably the most scenic 13 miles 192.5 yards in the country.

24/04/2010 - 56th Annual Yorkshire 3 Peaks

A good Trawden turnout for this years 3 Peaks race, with first appearances for Matt Haworth, Chris Campbell, David McCabe, Tony Hall and Heath McDonald-Noble.
Also competing were Dave Croll, Paul Brown and Dean Ralphson.
Conditions on the day added to what is already a very demanding race ( as I found out on the way over to Ingleborough from Hill Inn and retired from the race),
so major congratulations to everyone else for completing the event and hopefully we'll all be there to do it all again next year !
Finally well done to Heath for raising about £2500 for charity in the process. Makes all the pain worthwhile.

02/02/2010 - Pennine Bridleway Relay 2010 : Sunday 31st Jan 2010

A good team effort in the Pennine Bridleway - overall time of 6 hrs 34min 43secs which is 11 minutes faster than last year and saw us finish 52nd out of 95 teams entered. I have put the time of the legs in below and just to keep it competitive have also added the fastest leg times in previous years from Trawden runners.

Leg 1 - Chig / John McDonald - Fearns School to Long Causeway.
Time 1:16:26 (2009 Tony Hall / Matt Haworth 1:13:16)

Leg 2 - Chris Campbell / Tony Hall - Long Causeway to Callis Bridge.
Time 1:46:15 (2008 Peter Stobbs / Dave Croll 1:46:14)

Leg 3 - Derek Marsh / Colin Ashworth - Callis Bridge to Summit.
Time 1:15:15 - Fastest Club Time

Leg 4 - Tony Macro / Matt Haworth - Summit to Whitworth.
Time 56:10 - Fastest Club Time

Leg 5 - Peter Stobbs / Heath McDonald-Noble - Whitworth to Waterfoot (Fearns School)
Time 1:20:37 (2009 Neil Alderman / Dave Croll 1:17:47)

Two teams next year and if we carry on taking 11 minutes off the time each year we will get a top three finish by 2020.

13/12/2009 - Calderdale Way Relay 2009

Really well done to everyone who took part in the CWR 2009.
We finished 65th out of 117 teams, which is a decent result.
It's the first time we've entered a team and I know it took a fair bit
of your time recce'ing the various legs and organising transport on
the day. Hopefully those who picked up injuries on the day are making
a speedy recovery and will be back running soon enough.

31/05/2009 - 2009 Edinburgh Marathon

Congratulations to Chris Campbell for completing the Edinburgh Marathon in a time of 3:37:27.
Tremendous time in the heat Chris - you weren't affected by the lack of water and energy gels
that got nicked sometime in the early hours on the day of the race.
There's even a couple of photos in the gallery to prove he did it - check out the
difference in sun-tan between the before and after shots !

Mixed in with a great bank holiday weekend's camping, the Burnley v Sheffield Utd.
play-off final and the annual Austwick Cuckoo festival five Trawden runners took to
the hills in the 8 mile Austwick Amble fell race.
It couldn't have been a nicer day for it (...well, a breeze might have been nice) and
because of the excellent campsite and beautiful Yorkshire Dales setting I can see this
one becoming an annual 'Trawden on Tour' event !

25/04/2009 - The 55th Annual 3 peaks race

The 25th of April 09, saw the 55th Yorkshire 3 peaks race held in, err, Yorkshire...

We had a decent Trawden AC turn out with
Molly Ralphson,
William Titley,
Neil Alderman,
Peter Stobbs,
Dave Croll
and myself taking part.

It was a great day for the race, i really appreciated the few spots of
rain that fell at one point in the afternoon, but for most of the day it
was dry, clear and not particularly windy (except on the top of Whernside,
but isn't that always the case ?)

Commiserations to Molly, who after making it the summit of Whernside in
just over 2 and a half hours had to withdraw with knee trouble.
There's always next year Mol.

Congratulations to everyone else for making it to the finish - in
varying states of well-being, but hopefully all suitably recovered now.

Check out the photo's in the gallery (..sorry Neil, he must have been changing
his batteries or something when you went past) and see you all there next year.
Oh, and i'm sure Peter wasn't saying anything unkind when he was snapped !

22/03/2009 - Burnley 10K Road Race

We had 4 runners take part in this Mothers Day 10K and first off a MASSIVE WELL-DONE !
to super mum Molly for coming in first to win the ladies race. The crowd was gripped by the
dramatic finish with Molly finishing strongly to hold off an almighty challenge from the 2nd lady.
Oh and I can't believe Dave Croll can even walk properly again after last weekends Haworth
Hobble, never mind come in with a tremendous sub 40min time here. Well done everyone.

07/03/2009 - Half Tour of Pendle

Well done Team Trawden - 5 of us finally managed to get a place in the English Championship race.
Nearly 400 runners descended on Barley on a reasonably dry Saturday morning - the
atmosphere was great and we were well supported thanks to Peter, Dave and Heather.
The route was slightly different from last year with a tougher ascent up from the res,
but I think I can safely say we all enjoyed it - now its all over - until next year!
Well done again.
