What you’ve all been eagerly waiting for.

Map reading run, Saturday 29th June 9.30 to 11.30, meeting at Colne Park High School.

This will be conducted along the lines of a score event (like we did around Trawden) without the competition element. It will be a challenge though; the objective will be to navigate around as many checkpoints as possible within the 2 hours. In the process you should:

• Have a good time
• Discover a new area
• Get some map reading practice
• Get a feel for how fast you can travel in a given period
• Get some top orienteering tips

Maps of the area showing checkpoints will be provided.

Those wanting to stretch themselves and confident enough to head off unsupervised can do so in pairs. Assistance will be on hand for those that need it and there will be the option to run in small groups for those looking for a more sociable outing/safety in numbers.

This is suitable for all standards – novice to expert.

Wear trail/fell shoes and clothing to cope with a bit of hanging about in whatever the weather throws at us on the day.

Please let Pete Stobbs know if you can make it - pstobbs@talktalk.net
