All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey…

Not exactly California dreaming for this one, more of a cold windy morning with a hint of rain as Wallace and Gromit made their way to Blackpool for the Autumn Breaker 10K.

We’ve been to this venue many times for various 10K races which take place throughout the year, it always promises a PB but it can all depend on the weather on the day.

Once there we met up with various other TAC runners: Team Singleton, Jogger Joe, Suzanne Davies, Colin Smith and also Mark Fawcett, who had all made a trip to the coast for today’s event.

Usual pre-race warm-ups as we made our way to the start on the running track for instructions from race director and the count down for the start – 3...2...1…and we were off!

As mentioned it starts on the track with a lap and a half to complete before exiting for the first lap around Stanley Park. There always seems to be a quick start on the track, I’m convinced some runners set off too quickly as if they were only doing 800m.

It’s a cracking two lap traffic free course which trails around and within the park, with re-entry to the track for the start of the second lap.

The weather was kind on the day even though we did get a shower at the start but with a fair chunk of the race being run within the park it was quite sheltered from the wind.

The race finishes on the track for the final 600m and you can see the LED display clock so you tell as you enter whether or not you may be on for a PB.

With that in mind I think most if not all TAC runners managed a PB on the day with Chris Singleton winning the race and Christina second lady. There were also vet prizes for Wallace, Jogger Joe and myself.

A cracking well organised event as always from Flyde Coast Running and traffic free too. No matter how many times you come back to run around Stanley Park it never disappoints and there’s always a chance of a PB too.
