DARREN HORNER 29 MAY 2014
News Details

This was the third time that I can recall doing this race, in the last few attempts numerous people have had to point me in the correct direction at the start, it was a little odd turning up and actually knowing for once which direction to run in.

This year’s race was quite warm and very busy. Getting into the festival can be quite difficult and if you don’t wear any non-running gear you have to pay the festival entry fee. Having learnt from a previous experience I went in Trawden hoody and Jacket!

It took me 10 minutes to get into the festival area as there were a few people who commented on the jacket and others who I hadn’t seen for a while and just wanted a catch up with, then a couple of minutes to fill in the right form. Yes, I filled the junior form in! I tried to enter the under 16 race but was promptly told they had set off two minutes previously... Okay, so I entered the senior race instead. Well you've got to try these things ain’t ya?

The race itself basically runs up the hill then along the top, taking in some cracking views, through some limestone, down a big grassy slope (great descent!) along a track, then back down the road...a nice course.

Quite a few Humbugs attended the race, there were plenty of us hanging around at the finish to congratulate the rest of the team at the end, plenty of well-deserved cakes afterwards, and a quick pint in the pub. A great day out by all.
