Austwick Amble

The racing weekend for some TAC runners was rounded off with the now traditional Austwick Amble. The weather lived up to its Bank Holiday M.O. by starting, frankly miserably, but then fining up about 30 minutes before race start, and staying that way for the rest of the day. Again the day began with junior races, with Patrick & Sally Ralphson being joined by Euan Frazer for this one. Euan demonstrated his determination by frankly staring out his opposition on the run in to line before putting in a final spurt past him, good effort Euan! Again Joe Alderman had a good run in his Pendle AC vest, we're definately going to have to do something about that! Looking like a family bag of humbugs, 13 of us lined up on the start line of the senior race, with "Diddy" Dave Smith turning up later than Paul Brown's usual late appearance! He'd rung Ben & got him to register whilst he thoughtfully parked his car in Settle (well, maybe not quite that far way!) and made little Logan walk in with him, bad dad or what? Darren Horner took the spoils for TAC again, coming in well under an hour and in 18th overall. Looks like we're getting notorious at races now, with various comments including "you lot always enjoy yourselves" being directed at us. It's always good to be noticed, especially when you're having a good time! Following the race, everyone relaxed & enjoyed a pint or two before retiring back to the campsite for a big barby & game of rounders. A good day out!
